Passive RFID temperature sensors are an excellent solution for issues with system monitoring processes. Based on RFID technology, our temperature sensor tags communicate their individual ID number and the temperature data associated with each tag to the RFID reader . The architecture, power consumption, temperature measurement range, accuracy, and communication distance are key indicators of the performance of UHF RFID temperature sensor chip (RID-TSC). This work aims to provide a clearer view of the development of UHF RFID-TSC integration technology.
Exploiting the antenna of a UHF RFID tag as a temperature transducer and a UHF RFID chip with self-tuning capabilities as the means of communication, a UHF RFID tag can operate as a very low-power sensor with high read range and small size.
The new sensors enable users to track the temperatures of products or assets via low-cost disposable passive RFID tags and off-the-shelf UHF EPC Gen 2 readers. This paper presents a fully passive 13.56 -MHz RFID temperature sensor system-on-chip. Its power management unit operates over a large temperature range using a zero temperature coefficient bias source. Commonly compared in size to a pinhead or grain of sand, an RFID chip must be affixed to a very thin, metal tag antenna precisely for the energy conducted by the antenna to activate the chip and access the stored data. The chip is normally soldered to the antenna or attached with epoxy.
The passive UHF RFID temperature sensor chip is a high precision temperature sensor tag. Based on the passive UHF RFID technology, the tag has the characteristics of the wireless temperature measurement without battery.
