With the help of an NXP PN512 the printer reads the NFC Tag which ships with the original spools and determines various values from it, like total length, remaining length, color and material. The problem now with that system is that you have to use the filaments from xyzprinting, and are not allowed to use different (and cheaper) ones.

I'm not sure if this has already been posted, but I contacted support last week and they sent me a PDF providing instructions on how to upgrade the firmware of my Da Vinci Mini w+ so that it is now Open Tag and supports third-party filament.
I just checked multiple website, the nano use same filament as Jr. and miniMaker, it is unlikely it use a different tag or password algorithm, otherwise old Jr. and miniMaker will not be able to use this new filament. The problem is my 3F1J0 NFC Filament TAG J3 tag can't use any android apps because I don't have android. Can you find any way to fix this without any price?
